My license is suspended because I missed my traffic ticket court date in New Orleans

Hi, my name is Heather Ford and I am a traffic attorney in the city of New Orleans- also known as the Traffic Ticket Lady. Let’s discuss what happens if your license is suspended because you missed your court date for a traffic ticket in New Orleans.

If your license is suspended because you missed your court date, the first step you can take to get it back is get a new court date. Some people call me with this issue because they don’t live in the area anymore or maybe they work offshore. Either way it takes time to get to court and not everyone can make that time. 

In that case, you can hire an attorney. They can go down to the court on your behalf and get you your new court date. When I appear on someone’s behalf, I go down to the court to get the paperwork for the new date, scan and send to you, and you then take it to the DMV and pay in person. You can also fax the paperwork to the DMV, they updated their records, and you call in and pay the $100 fee. Either one of these steps will get your license reinstated. 

Again – if your license is suspended and you miss a court date, your first step to get your license back is to get a new court date. It doesn’t have to be you if you are not available. You can get somebody to go on your behalf like an attorney. Take that paperwork showing the new court date to the DMV and pay your $100 reinstatement fee. That will allow you to get your license back.
