Should I take an online driving course for my traffic ticket court date?
My name is Heather Ford and I am a traffic attorney in the city of New Orleans Louisiana – also known as the Traffic Ticket Lady. I want to talk a little bit about taking an online driving course before your court date for a traffic ticket.
Before I get started, if you ever have any questions about a suspended license, a violation for driving with a suspended license, a traffic ticket, or anything of that nature, you can always shoot me a text or call me at 504-233-8529. You can also schedule a free strategy session at traffictickettalks.com.
On occasion I will talk to some clients, maybe their court date is coming up within a couple weeks and they have taken an online driving course hoping that it will help give them a better outcome on their traffic ticket.
If a client of mine does take an online driving course, I will certainly present it to the court. I have seen it be helpful in some instances, but there is no guarantee. Some courts care about that and will occasionally order them as part of a deal to get a charge reduced or changed to a non-moving violation.
Busted for a Speeding Ticket Or Moving Violation in NOLA?
We Can Help — Even If You Live Out of State.
Some people will take a class ahead of time when they were caught driving really fast. If someone is 25 or 30 miles per hour over the speed limit, the court may require you to take driving courses, but some courts just don’t care at all. And sometimes your insurance company will give you a discount if you take a driving course.
It can’t hurt to take a course, but there’s definitely no guarantee that its a good use of your time.
If you have a traffic ticket and a court date you need to serve, shoot me a text and I’m happy to share my thoughts with a free consultation and help you understand your options, where you time is best spent, and if you hire me, I can appear before the court on your behalf. Don’t just pay your ticket, fight the ticket and protect your record as best you can.
If you ever have any questions about DMV fees, traffic tickets, or a suspended license, I’d be happy to speak with you. You can always shoot me a quick text at 504-233-8529 or visit my website trafficticketlady.com.
