What does a traffic ticket attorney actually do?
So what does a traffic ticket attorney do anyways? Potential clients call and they’ve never heard of a traffic ticket attorney. To be clear- it’s pretty much what it sounds like. I’m an attorney that handles traffic cases in traffic court, which can be a simple speeding ticket or as complex as a hit-and-run or DUI. A traffic ticket can have a real wide range of consequences on your wallet and your future.
What I do is protecting people’s insurance rates and driving records.
We’re trying to make sure any moving violations you receive are reduced to a non-moving violation. Moving violations make your insurance rates go up significantly and become more expensive. It also can have impact on your driving record, which a lot of people don’t think is a big deal and isn’t, until it is. Maybe you drive for your duties at work and one day they decide to give you a company car.
Busted for a Speeding Ticket Or Moving Violation in NOLA?
We Can Help — Even If You Live Out of State.
All of a sudden the speeding ticket you paid for a year ago makes you very expensive to insure.
I always encourage people, if you get a ticket that will result in a moving violation, try to keep that off the record. You don’t necessarily have to hire an attorney. You can go yourself for most of these cases, if your speed wasn’t very fast, maybe you’re below 20 miles over, and often there will be offers to keep it off your work record. I would say keep all your options open, do whatever you can to try to protect your records. Insurance rates are so expensive in Louisiana, the extra points can really add up over time.
If you ever have any questions about a traffic ticket, you can shoot me a text and I’m happy to lend you my thoughts with a free consultation and point you in the right direction.
